Since the outbreak of the Coronavirus, life has changed as we know it. Many businesses are closed, many people are working from home, essential workers are putting their lives at risk, and everything feels uncertain. With your office only seeing patients on an emergency basis, now more than ever, it’s essential to stay in touch with your patients. We have a few tips for you to keep in touch with your patients during these uncertain times.

1) Update your website.

Maintaining your online presence is essential at this time. Consider adding a new page to your website directly addressing any possible concerns your patients may have at this time. Add links to the CDA and the ADA that address concerns and best practices. Use this time to advise your patients about your disinfectant procedures in case they have a dental emergency. Continue to share your tips online, as well as any office hours and local community news and resources.

2) Start a blog on your website.

Consider adding a blog as well. Not only is this beneficial to communicating with your patients, but it also helps your search engine ranking. Well written blog posts can rank higher in Google searches and help establish your presence online. If you are stumped for blog post content, consider writing about topics such as:

  • Tips for parents for teaching dental care to their children.
  • Suggestions for handling teeth and gum issues that may arise during the Coronavirus lockdown (but aren’t considered a dental emergency).
  •  Best practices for dental care while at home.
  •  Proper flossing techniques.
  • Blog posts can be a new way to reach your patients and help them feel at ease.

3) Create social media accounts.

If you haven’t branched off into social media, now is the time to start. Now more than ever, patients are going to be checking their social media accounts for any new changes. Start your business page on Instagram and Facebook to start. Include any office hours, contact information, and keep your patients informed of any changes. Share any blog posts you have written. You can also use Instagram to share any videos you want to create for your patients, such as oral care tips.

Don’t be afraid to show a little bit of personality too! With everyone being inundated with negative news, it’s refreshing to see a business remain positive while being respectful of the current times.

Most of all, communication is critical. Your patients will appreciate your effort. Remember, stay positive, informative, and uplifting. Showing understanding and concern go a long way in the lives of your patients.
